Bowie: There is a new recording of it that they're using in the Charlies Angels movie. It's the version that we've been playing on the shows this last year, so we restructed it and made it more minimal, and it works really well.

Interviewer: When I was high school, that was the riff by which all of us young guitarists would prouve ourselves in the local music store.

Bowie: (Laughs) It's a real air guitar thing, isn't it? I can tell you a really funny stroy about that. One night, I was in London in a hotel trying to get some sleep. It was quite late, like 11 or 12 at night, and I had some big deal thing on the next day, a TV-Show or something, and I heard this riff beeing played very badly from upstairs. I thought: "Who the hell is doing this at this time of night?" on a electric guitar over and over (sings riff of rebel rebel in a very hesitant, stop and start way) So I went upstairs to show the person how to play the thing (laughs). So I bang on the door. The door opened and I say: "Listen, if you're going to play...," and it was John McEnroe! I kid you not (laughs). It was McEnroe, who saw himself as a sort of rock guitar player at the time. That could only happen in a movie, couldn't it? McEnroe trying to struggle his way through the Rebel Rebel riff.

Im Tausch gegen das Rolling Stone Magazin hat mir ein ganz lieber B-Netter das Performing Songwriter Magazin aus den USA geschickt. Die Titelstorie ist mit satten 9 Seiten unserem Bo gewidmet. Ich hab zum durchlesen ne glatte Stunde gebraucht, aber es hat sich wirklich gelohnt. Habe mich streckenweise köstlich amüsiert.

Unter anderem hat Bowie auch zu ein paar Songs Stellung nehmen sollen und das was er zu Rebel Rebel gesagt hat, hat mir glatt die Sprache verschlagen und ich möchte Euch das nicht vorenthalten, weil ich es so genial fand:

Stellt Euch das doch nur mal vor! Auf einmal steht er einfach vor der Tür! Ich glaube ich werde nach den Konzerten in den gleichen Hotels einchecken wie Bowie und ganz gruselig die ganze Nacht NKS auf der Gitarre spielen (was mit Sicherheit auch autentisch wäre, da ich gar nicht Gitarre spielen kann). Vielleicht klopft er dann auch an meiner Tür und zeigt mir wie's richtig geht.
