"Sheepdog" was how David described his look last night; his hair was all over his face and he claimed he didn't know if anyone was there (until the arena exploded with shouts and cheers, of course). He also told us that he and the band had been to Healesville Sanctuary, a local wildlife park, and was laughing about how they'd been cuddling wombats and stroking platypus beaks, and how bad they all smelled afterwards :-) At this point, some folk at the front started throwing stuffed toys of Australian animals at him, which set off a whole rave, in reporter-style voice, about "David Bowie, rock star, was buried under flying marsupials on stage in Melbourne last night". Aaaaagh, I know Charly will do a much better job of catching the humour of this, it really was hilarious. Oh, and he said we were the only audience ever to know the first verse of China Girl, which is maybe a dubious honour...
