Danke @sway99 . "Wood Jackson" hab ich lang nicht gehört - kenne es aber seit ich am Tag der VÖ die Maxi-CD von "Slow Burn" bei WOM geholt habe und sofort danach in meinen Discman warf.
Allerdings ging er da bei mir etwas unter da ich so von Shadow Man geflasht war. 😍

Dafür werde ich es heute umso intensiver hören. Auf meiner Spotify-Playlist wird es leider fehlen, denn dort gibt es ihn leider nicht.
Auf den Text hab ich nie geachtet, typisch. War mir völlig neu, dass es dabei um Cassetten geht 😁

Und auch der Daniel Johnston Bezug war mir neu. Den hab ich glaub ich übrigens auf dem High Line Festival gesehen. Trat am selben Abend auf wie der Legendary Stardust Cowboy wenn ich mich nicht irre.

liebe ich auch sehr und das Lied geht mir direkt ins Herz...

Wahnsinn, Simone, dass Du Daniel Johnston und den Legendary Stardust Cowboy auf dem High Line Festival gesehen hast und mich rührt es sehr, dass David sich für diese beiden sehr eigenen Seelenmusiker engagiert hat. Den LS Cowboy ja auch noch durch sein Cover von "I took a trip...."

Bowie also provided Johnston with some wider exposure when he had him perform at London’s South Bank on 17 June, 2002, as part of David Bowie's Meltdown 2002 and then again on 16 May, 2007, to the Highline Ballroom for Bowie’s High Line Festival. Bowie also invited that other ‘outsider’, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, to both events.

Und auch Curt Cobain hat auf Johnston aufmerksam gemacht, indem er ein T-Shirt mit dem selbstgemalten Cassettencover "Hi, how are you" von ihm trug.
Danke für einen wieder wunderbaren Song des Tages! (und auch an Madman, der ihn mir -zwar nicht auf Cassette - aber auf CD gebrannt hat, so dass ich heute ausgiebig darin schwelgen und schweben konnte)

Wa da nicht meine berühmte Nummer mit dem Barhocker, Simone?
Nach dem Konzert hab ich noch ein schönes Video gemacht vom Bühnenausgang auf dem Weg ins Auto mit Duncan.

Hm Nummer mit Barhocker? Hilfst Du meinem Gedächtnis auf die Sprünge bitte?

Huch...bei dem Konzert war Duncan auch anwesend? Hab ich gar nicht mitbekommen 🙈

Aha, heute also "Rebel Rebel"...in einer ziemlich leeren Halle 😐

Naja...ich werde nun trotzdem meinen Senf und viele viele bunte Smarties, eh Tubies, dazu abgeben, nachdem ich gut in Hamburg gelandet bin mittlerweile.

Ich persönlich mag "Rebel Rebel" nicht besonders gern. Albumversion gar nicht - und live kommt es auf die Tour an. Hab eben im Auto jede Menge Versionen auf Spotify gehört, und da gefiel mir die 1978er von "Welcome To The Blackout" am Besten. Paris 1999 und Glastonbury sind auch nett - aber richtig gut gefällt es mir dann wieder in der neuen Version von "Reality". Wobei es mir da auch etwas auf die Nerven ging, da es ja in jedem Konzert war.

@Guido Man kann übrigens nicht pauschal sagen, dass er seit Mailand 2003 immer der Opener bei Reality war. Das stimmt zwar vermutlich in den meisten Fällen - aber spontan fällt mir da Amneville ein, wo er überraschenderweise mit "The Loneliest Guy" begann.
Ich würde wirklich gern wissen was ihn da geritten hatte!

Ansonsten fällt mir bei dem Song noch eine Story auf Teenage Wildlife ein, die ich 1997 oder so noch in einem Internetcafé oben bei Horten las.
Da ließ sich ein Mädel darüber aus, dass sie es so an David mochte, dass er in seinen Songs nicht so gefühlsduselig ist und das Wort Liebe nicht erwähnt - und war leicht angepisst als ihr Bruder oder ein Freund ihr zeigten, dass es in "Rebel Rebel" ja doch vorkommt - "Hot Tramp, I love you so."

😜

Und ansonsten fällt mir noch ein wie David irgendwo erzählte, dass sein Sohn ihn als Kind immer "wobble wobble" nannte. :)
