Parlophone Records/ISO Records freuen sich außerordentlich, die Veröffentlichung von DAVID BOWIE 5. BRILLIANT ADVENTURE (1992 - 2001) für den 26. November 2021 ankündigen zu können, das fünfte in einer Reihe von Boxsets, die seine Karriere seit 1969 umspannen.

Nach DAVID BOWIE 1. FIVE YEARS (1969 – 1973), DAVID BOWIE 2. WHO CAN I BE NOW? (1974 – 1976), DAVID BOWIE 3. A NEW CAREER IN A NEW TOWN (1977 – 1982) und DAVID BOWIE 4. LOVING THE ALIEN (1983-1988) setzt DAVID BOWIE 5. BRILLIANT ADVENTURE (1992 – 2001) die preisgekrönte und von der Kritik gefeierte Reihe von Bowie-Boxsets fort. Freuen kann man sich auf eine Box mit 11 CDs, ein 18-teiliges Vinyl-Set und ein Standard-Boxset zum digitalen Download. Die Sammlung ist nach dem vorletzten Stück des „hours...“-Albums benannt, ein von Koto-Klängen geprägter Instrumental-Track. Die Boxsets enthalten einiges von Bowies meistunterschätztem und experimentellstem Material, das unter Beteiligung der damaligen Produzenten und Kreativpartner neu gemastert wurde, darunter BLACK TIE WHITE NOISE, THE BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA (zum ersten Mal seit fast 30 Jahren auf Vinyl erhältlich), 1.OUTSIDE, EARTHLING und oben erwähntes „hours...“, dazu kommt das erweiterte Live-Album BBC RADIO THEATRE, LONDON, JUNE 27, 2000, die Non-Album-/Alternative-Version/B-Seiten und Soundtrack-Musik-Compilation RE:CALL 5 und das legendäre, bisher unveröffentlichte Album TOY.

Käufer von DAVID BOWIE 5. BRILLIANT ADVENTURE (1992 – 2001) können sich außerdem auf BBC RADIO THEATRE, LONDON, JUNE 27, 2000 und RE:CALL 5 freuen – Ersteres eingespielt vor 500 glücklichen Fans im Art-Deco-Theater der BBC im Zentrum Londons nur zwei Tage nach dem berühmten Glastonbury-Auftritt. Ausschnitte aus der Show waren im September 2000 als dritte CD in einer streng limitierten 3CD-Edition von BOWIE AT THE BEEB erschienen, doch das komplette Konzert war noch nie zuvor auf Vinyl erhältlich. RE:CALL 5 enthält auf 3CDs und 4LPs satte 39 Non-Album-/Alternative-Version/B-Seiten und Soundtrack-Songs.

Das Begleitbuch des physischen Boxsets – 84 Seiten in der CD-Box und 128 Seiten im Vinyl-Set – enthält seltene und bisher unveröffentlichte Fotos von Fotografen wie Frank W. Ockenfels 3, Nick Knight, John Scarisbrick und Nina Schultz Terner und anderen, außerdem Memorabilien, technische Notizen zu den Alben von den Produzenten/Toningenieuren Brian Eno, Nile Rodgers, Reeves Gabrels und Mark Plati sowie ein neues Interview mit THE BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA-Kreativpartner Erdal Kizilçay.

Die CD-Box enthält originalgetreu reproduzierte Mini-Vinyl-Versionen der Originalalben (sofern existent), die CDs sind gold- statt wie üblich silberfarben. Der Inhalt des Vinyl-Boxsets ist identisch mit dem CD-Set und auf audiophilem 180g-Vinyl gepresst.

Aber BBC 2000 würde ich mir zumindest dann gern irgendwie einzeln als Vinyl anschaffen.
